FAQ's

Drayage service is the act of a motor carrier pulling containers out of a rail yard or ocean port and either loading them or unloading them before returning the container to the port or rail yard, typically over short distances. With dray service, an empty or full container can be mounted on a chassis, or a flatbed, to be delivered either from your door to the port or rail yard, or from the port or rail yard to your door.

The Last Free Day is the last day of a period of free storage time in which the cargo can be picked up without paying demurrage.

Demurrage is the charge for storage at a terminal or port.

A drop fee occurs when a drayage carrier can’t be unloaded live or within their allotted time. In this case, they must drop the container there and come back later to pick up the empty container.

This depends on the size and type of container used. It can also be dependent on the carrier as each drayage carrier has their own weight limits. Generally anything over 38,000 lbs. is overweight for a 20-ft dry container and over 40,000 lbs. is overweight for a 40-ft dry container.
